* Bio collection 2022-02-07 Will Harris-Braun '22 is a Computer Science and Linguistics major who once found a long-range laser-guided infrared thermometer in the middle of the road, took it to the nearest Pizza restaurant, and used it to measure their oven. It was 113°F. He enjoys rope swings, thinks about patterns, is interested in solar power, and never could quite figure out how to write an artist bio. In addition to take photos, Will listens to and makes music, dances around wildly, writes sometimes, designs stuff in CAD, and walks around and looks at things. Bio 1, accompanying a submission to an art magazine. Hi, I'm Will Harris-Braun. I'm a Senior, a Computer Science & Linguistics major, and I've worked in the Maker Arts Space since my first year at Haverford. In the space I've 3D printed upgrades for my dorm room, designed and built electronic bike lights, cut and glued together cardboard prototypes of wearable art pieces (pictured), machined and assembled a 23-foot diameter geodesic dome out of steel pipes, sewed repairs on my clothes, made board game pieces with the 3D printers, and cut Vinyl decals for my dad's car. So many possibilities! I love working with people to see how we can build what they're imagining with the tools and materials in the Maker Arts Space. Bio 2, from the Haverford Maker Arts Space website. Will Harris-Braun is a Linguistics and Computer Science major at Haverford college. He's helping with web design and development for the Ticha site, as well as working on tools to make encoding easier. Will is interested in learning from the team's organization structure, and thinking about how computers can help humans collaborate better. Bio 3, from the website of the Ticha Project. Will Harris-Braun is a farmer and tinkerer living in Chatham, NY. They graduated in 2022 and went home with a degree in Computer Science and Linguistics, and several hundred pounds of steel tubing the college paid for. They have attended Quaker meeting for worship since being a newborn, and are a member of Old Chatham Monthly Meeting (NYYM). Bio 4, for nomination to the Haverford Corporation Associates Program. Will Harris-Braun (they/them) has been involved in Flying Deer nearly from the beginning: first as a camper, then as an instructor, and now also as a board member. They grew up in Columbia County, went away to college, studied computer science and linguistics and made sculptures, and have now moved back to the area. They currently steward a piece of land in Chatham where they live. Will brings to the board perspective from memories of their not-so-distant past as a Flying Deer camper, as well as an excitement to care for Flying Deer as an organization and midwife its healthy growth. They spend their time fixing things, throwing parties, mowing the lawn, and being friends with people. Bio 5, for the Flying Deer Nature Center Board. 2024-06-02
